Her research interests span the areas of social media analytics, deception detection, knowledge management, biomedical informatics, and intelligent mobile interface. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Zhou held a professorship at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a research scientist position at the University of Arizona. She has published articles in journals, such as <em>MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, ACM Transactions, IEEE Transactions, Information &amp; Management, <\/em>and <em>Decision Support Systems<\/em>. Her scholarly work has been sponsored by NSF, NSA, CDC, VA, DoE, among others. Dr. Zhou&#8217;s research and scholarly contributions have been recognized with\u00a0the 2024 Belk College Distinguished Scholarship Award and as a finalist for the 2026 Charlotte\u2019s Distinguished Research Award.
